Danny's Day out with Thomas

Danny loves Thomas the Tank Engine, and ever since I heard about Day out with Thomas I couldn't wait to take him. We spent a weekend in Lancaster, and had an awesome time. The hotel we stayed at was very nice, and Danny loved the baggage cart.
After a wonderful breakfast on Friday morning, we headed to the Strasburg railroad to see Thomas. Because of all the rain, we weren't able to park at the station, so they were transporting everyone on school buses from a local school. Dan and I thought this was annoying, but Danny was really excited to ride a school bus.
I think my favorite part of the weekend was when the bus pulled up to the station and all of the kids started screaming "Thomas" and were literally trying to jump out of the windows to get to him.
Shortly after we got there it was Danny's scheduled time to ride on Thomas. It was so fun, and I'm already dreaming about going back next year.

Happy passenger

Daddy was having a great time too
I loved the countryside there in Lancaster. We drove around for at least an hour that afternoon just looking at the beautiful homes and farms.

Such a big boy handing his ticket to the conductor. I loved how everyone was dressed. The whole day looked straight from the books.

Precious little hand
I love this boy. His legs look so long in this picture.

I just could not have been happier on our train ride. The weather held out, Danny was in heaven, and Lancaster is very beautiful
Dan stuck his arm and the camera out of his window to get some special shots of Danny and I

I don't' remember if we were pointing at farm animals or tractors. There were plenty of both.

Train Yard

There were a lot of really old retired train on the side rails
The snow plow which probably still gets used in the winter
The other large steam train was running at the same time as Thomas. It was really neat to watch it pass from inside the train. I would like to go back sometime and take a ride on the regular train.
One of our few family pictures from the weekend.

Silly faces

After our ride was over we spent a couple of minutes walking in the beautiful coach car
The train whistle sounded so Danny didn't want to take his hands off of his ears
I love all of these pictures of my silly little boy

We waited in line to meet Sir Topham Hat, and Danny pretty much freaked out when we got close to him. Danny isn't scared of much, but this large-headed web-handed man really upset him
These young Amish children set up a stand near the tracks, and we bought homemade lemonade, and a whoopee pie for our snack
There was a large tent set up where the kids could play with tons of elaborate Thomas tables. Danny could have spent all day there. Notice the remaining whoopee pie on his upper lip.

Thomas tattoo

Danny was very excited to get a Thomas tattoo
He was checking out his helicopter on the other arm
Daddy and Danny got matching ink
Here comes Thomas. I was really surprised at how much smoke he put out

Riding in a cart pulled by one of the little trains. I just loved that there were so many fun things to do besides riding on Thomas.

Riding in the Trolley
Such a cutie peaking out the window
